Zocalo brass with Matt McDonald

  • Le Chéile 839 West 181st Street New York, NY, 10033 United States (map)

ZOCALO is the place where people gather to meet, socialize, ponder, play checkers, play futbol, sing a song, eat a taco, eat a churro, play guitar, stroll romantically, watch the birds, go to church, hear a speech, daydream, and generally be joyous. Our goal is to play music that brings people together in a similarly joyous way.

Zocalo brass performs original arrangements in a diversity of styles including the music of Byrd, Bruckner, Bjork, Handel, Zappa, Bowie, Ellington, Mingus, Piazzola, Ponce, Donizetti and many others. Zocalo members have performed on the stages of Carnegie Hall and Lincoln center, with great orchestras such as the Boston Symphony and Pops, at festivals such as Tanglewood, Spoleto, Verbier and Marlboro, in the pits of Broadway and Radio City, on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and alongside artists such as Lila Downs, Max Weinberg, Josh Groban, Rufus Wainwright, Paul Giamatti.

Matt McDonald will be performing with members of Zocalo brass: Hugo Moreno & Chris Scanlon, Trumpets, Bert Hill, Horn, & George Saenz, Trombones.
